Tooth Replacement

Bridges
Dental bridges are used to close the gap left by a missing tooth. A bridge is made up of an artificial tooth with a crown on either side to hold the artificial tooth in place and replace the space of the missing tooth.

Dental implants
Dental implants are the most effective and long-lasting option for replacing missing or badly damaged teeth. The dental implant process occurs over several visits over a period of months. X-rays and impressions of the teeth and jaw allow us to determine a custom plan. A dental implant made of titanium with artificial roots, is surgically placed into the jawbone while the area is numb. The implant and bone fuse to each other over a period of months while the healing process takes place. Once this process is complete, a crown is placed over the implant. With proper oral hygiene, eating habits and regular dental visits, much success can be achieved with dental implants.

Dentures
Modern improvements and implant technology have rendered dentures less and less desirable. Many times, we can convert traditional dentures to implant-supported dentures, which provide a more permanent and more comfortable solution for missing teeth. However, in certain circumstances, a denture or partial denture may be an option for replacing missing teeth and improving the appearance of your smile. Dentures require several appointments over the course of many weeks. During this time, impressions are taken to create a custom fit for your mouth. Once the optimal comfort shape and fit are achieved, we will position the completed denture.
After receiving dentures, it is commonplace to experience discomfort, increased saliva and impaired speech and chewing. These temporary effects will subside once your muscles and tissues become accustomed to the new dentures. Proper cleaning, consistent dental appointments and good oral hygiene are essential for the success and longevity of dentures.
